Atlanta Hotel Occupancy Maintains Growth for the Sixth Consecutive Year

Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) announces record-breaking hotel occupancy in 2019 in the city of Atlanta at 74 percent, according to data from Smith Travel Research. This marks the sixth-straight year occupancy remained more than 70 percent. City of Atlanta demand for hotel rooms grew 3.4 percent while the market supply grew 2.2 percent, adding more than 700 new rooms.
 
“It was an incredible year for Atlanta, driven by the fantastic Super Bowl the city hosted,” said William Pate, president and CEO, ACVB. “Atlanta’s expanding hotel portfolio and ever-growing convention and entertainment district will continue to bring visitors to the city for years to come.”
 
Monthly hotel occupancy for January, February and June reached all-time highs boosted by hosting Super Bowl LIII and other large-scale events, leading to a strong year for the city’s major convention hotels.
 
ACVB booked a record-high 28 future citywide groups requiring 5,000+ rooms on peak, bringing total room night bookings to 1.63 million, up two percent from the previous year.
