Alzheimer's Association Names 2022 Dancing Stars of Atlanta Chairs

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

Atlanta area business leaders Dr. Kristina Price and Teri Schneider join the Alzheimer’s Association® as the 2022 Event Chairs for Dancing Stars of Atlanta.

“My commitment to the Alzheimer’s Association began when I watched my co-chair Kristina Price raise funds and dedicate a spectacular performance to her mother-in-law who lived with Alzheimer’s at Dancing Stars of Atlanta 2016”, added Teri Schnedier. “Less than a year before the event, I had lost my precious mother to Lewy Body Dementia. My commitment to the mission of the Alzheimer's Association and everything the organization does for the caregivers and those affected by all dementias. Let’s make some memories and save some memories”, added Schneider.

Dancing Stars of Atlanta is an event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. So far, eight Atlanta area business leaders and philanthropists are committed to the 2022 Atlanta Dancing Stars cast, which will be revealed in December.

“The two of us are deeply honored and extremely excited about this opportunity”, added Dr. Kristina Price. “We are resolute in our determination to make 2022’s live event more successful and spectacular than ever.  Additionally, this year of fundraising opened many doors and conversations between myself and colleagues and patients. I came to understand the impact of this disease was even more far reaching than I could have possibly imagined. It seemed as though everyone had some connection to the disease. I felt compelled to do more”, added Price.

Dancing Stars of Atlanta will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. In 2021, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Dancing Stars of Atlanta went virtual and raised more than $700,000.. People’s choice award winners, the contestants that raised the most money were Atlanta residents Star Linda Schoeph and Pro Simone Maccorone. The 2021 Judge’s Choice award went to Star Karla Arriola and Pro Alex Spencer.

"We are honored to have Teri and Kristina as the 2022 Chairs for the Atlanta Dancing Stars", added Wakeelah Abdullah, Event Director for the Alzheimer's Association. “Unfortunately, they both know the devastation behind Alzheimer's and they want nothing more than to raise $1 million so that the Alzheimer's Association can continue to provide free care and support programs as well as funding research to ultimately end this disease", added Abdullah.

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Georgia alone, there are more than 150,000 people living with the disease and 334,000 caregivers.
