In a continued effort to boost Georgia’s manufacturing industry, the Center of Innovation for Manufacturing is tackling one of its most ambitious projects to date: the Consumer Products Manufacturing Directory.

This directory, an idea envisioned by center director John Zegers, will give Georgia consumers instant access to the consumer products manufactured in the state. The purpose of this project is twofold: to support those companies manufacturing products here in Georgia, and to educate consumers on products made in their state and community.

“We want to have an easily accessible and usable tool for consumers to make their purchasing decisions with this knowledge at their fingertips,” Zegers said.  “Not only will the directory be a useful tool for Georgia consumers, it will also play a pivotal role in the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s mission of telling the world what Georgia has to offer.”

To accomplish this task, the Center is asking Georgia’s community and economic development partners to assist them in collecting product names and companies that are in Georgia. The key is to be able to identify the product by brand name so that it’s easy for a consumer to find and purchase.

If you would like to ensure that your product is included, please contact John Zegers at [email protected] or through the Center of Innovation for Manufacturing’s website.

Manufacturing is a leading industry in Georgia with nearly 500,000 workers and more than 90% of Georgia’s exports and Georgia has major manufacturing operations in the automotive, floor covering, and food processing industries. To learn more about Georgia’s manufacturing industry, click here.
