The National Association of Sports Commissions named the Atlanta Sports Council the Sports Commission of the Year at the 2015 NASC Annual Symposium.

This is the fourth time the Atlanta Sports Council has received this honor.

"It’s an honor to be recognized among our peers within the sports community,” said Dan Corso, executive director of Atlanta Sports Council and senior vice president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “The past year proved that hard work, active community involvement and working cohesively with regional partners pays off.”

The ASC accepted this honor in 2000, 2004 and 2006. This past year was highlighted by the successful recruitment of the 2020 Men’s Final Four, along with the recruitment of diverse sports events spread across the metro Atlanta region, including the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, 2015 Major League Lacrosse Championship, 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games Atlantic Regional, 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball South Regional and many more.

In addition to event recruitment efforts, the ASC played an integral role in hosting a variety of international and national events across metro Atlanta, such as the USA Men’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier, International Rugby Board (IRB) Women’s Sevens World Series, Southeastern Conference (SEC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships among others.

"I am so proud that the hard work of the ASC was recognized by winning the 2015 Sports Commission of the Year award,” ASC Chairman, Thomas Carroll, said. “This is a great testimony to the hard work the ASC puts into making Atlanta one of the leading sports cities in the world.  Additionally, this award would not have been possible without the active participation of our board and many other leaders in our great city. I could not be happier for the Atlanta Sports Council and the city of Atlanta."
