Bauerfeind AG, one of the world's leading manufacturers of medical-grade products including orthopedic braces and supports for every joint and the back, compression socks and insoles, has cut the ribbon for its new U.S headquarters in Atlanta.
Bauerfeind USA now occupies more than 8,500 square feet at Promenade, a trophy office tower located at 1230 Peachtree St. NE in Midtown. The company previously was headquartered in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, Ga.
“Midtown Atlanta has become a growing hub for innovative health science companies. Its ease of access for potential customers and talent was an important factor in our decision to relocate our headquarters,” said Dr. Gregory J. Vaughn, CEO of Bauerfeind USA. “Our move was made all the easier thanks to the support of the City of Atlanta, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the German American Chamber of Commerce and others who have made Atlanta a great city in which to do business.”
Bauerfeind first entered the U.S. market in 1985 and has remained headquartered in metro Atlanta throughout that time. The German-American Chamber of Commerce in the South says there are more than 400 German companies with offices in Georgia, including Mercedes-Benz and Porsche USA. The move to Midtown represents a change in business strategy and the need to hire a young and talented workforce, Vaughn added. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed attended the event, along with the great grandson of the company’s founder, Thomas Bauerfeind, the chief financial officer of Bauerfeind AG and Dirk Treiber, the chief commercial officer international of Bauerfeind AG.
