Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Thursday, October 8th, 2015

On Thursday, September 24, Sotherly Hotels Inc. SOHO, -1.48%, officially launched their new hotel collection with a celebration at The Georgian Terrace Hotel, now known as The Georgian Terrace by Sotherly Hotels. The Georgian Terrace is the first signature property of Sotherly Hotels' premiere collection of 12 hotels throughout the United States. The Company plans to make several updates to The Georgian Terrace, all centered on offering guests the best the city has to offer and infusing their visit with warm Southern hospitality.

In addition to a new name, The Georgian Terrace will receive a number of upgrades including fully renovated guest rooms featuring hardwood flooring, marble tile, and all new fixtures and furniture. Complimentary in-room amenities such as bottled water and sweets, known as "lagniappe," will be sourced exclusively from Southern companies. The bathroom amenities will also receive an upgrade, keeping in line with Sotherly Hotels' commitment to sustainability. The introduction of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in every guest room will save more than 200,000 bottles from going into landfills each year.

Other parts of the Georgian Terrace guest experience will receive a makeover as well. Each signature Sotherly Hotels property, beginning with the Georgian Terrace, will hire a "Sothern Host," a combination of concierge and brand ambassador who is an expert on his or her given city. At The Georgian Terrace, Sothern Host Eric Woodward will update guests on the very best places to eat, drink, and explore in Atlanta.

The hotel's main food and beverage outlet Livingston Restaurant + Bar will update its menu to include winning items from the first-annual Sotherly Chef Showdown that was held in February 2015. The overall winner, Southern Fried Stuffed Chicken filled with macaroni and cheese and served with Dr. Pepper bacon jam and vinegar kale slaw, created by Chef Sylvia Richmond of Sotherly's Houston property, will make an appearance at Livingston soon.

Award-winning basement bar Edgar's Proof & Provision (formerly Proof & Provision) was renamed to honor Edgar Sims Jr., the father of Sotherly CEO Drew Sims, who in 1957 founded Maryland Hospitality, Inc., the company which would become Sotherly Hotels, Inc. Edgar, remembered as a bourbon lover, will be honored both in the name of the bar and with Edgar's Truth, Sotherly Hotels' own bourbon which will be served at Edgar's Proof & Provision. Caf Mims, The Georgian Terrace's lobby caf, has been replaced by Buffalo Bayou Coffee, a specialty coffee shop that will feature Dancing Goats Coffee, roasted locally by Batdorf + Bronson.
