Wednesday, August 31st, 2016

Comcast has donated $10,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Kids In Need program.

The money will help provide school supplies to students across metro Atlanta whose academic success is threatened by poverty. In addition, local Comcast employees last week helped distribute the supplies from the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Jefferson Avenue location to area schools.

As a part of the Kids in Need program, teachers from 12 area school districts can set appointments and visit the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s facility for supplies. To qualify, at least 80 percent of a school’s students must be enrolled in the federal free and reduced meal program.

The Kids In Need facility is stocked with school and art supplies for grade levels Pre-K through 12. There is no cost for teachers or schools to participate.

Eligible schools are located in school districts in the cities of Atlanta, Gainesville and Marietta and Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry and Spalding counties.
