Freeman, Mathis & Gary Annonces Hires in Atlanta

Joshua G. Ferguson has joined Atlanta-based Freeman Mathis & Gary as a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office.  In addition, five new attorneys have joined the firm’s headquarters office in Atlanta and one new associate has joined the office in Philadelphia. 

“Joshua brings an incredible depth of knowledge and experience to our commercial general liability, construction and professional liability practices.  His legislative expertise in areas critical to our clients will also be of enormous benefit to the firm,” commented Ben Mathis, the firm’s managing partner.  “We are equally excited about the experience and energy these five new associates are already bringing to key practice areas.”

Ferguson comes to Freeman, Mathis & Gary after having served as general counsel for a wide variety of businesses, including those in the construction, snow removal and landscaping industries.  He has litigated cases throughout the United States and drafted legislation and testified on behalf of a wide range of industries before House Committees at both the federal and state level.   Ferguson received his law degree from Widener University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University. 

The new attorneys in the Atlanta office include:

Jake Carroll, who joins the firm’s construction law, commercial general liability and business liability practice groups.  Prior to joining the firm, he clerked for the Honorable Charles H. Weigle, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Middle District of Georgia.   Carroll received his J. D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law. 

Robyn Flegal, who joins the firm’s commercial and complex litigation and labor and employment practice groups.  Prior to joining the firm, she clerked for the Honorable Thomas Q. Langstaff, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Georgia.   Flegal received her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. 

Jason Kamp, who joins the firm’s commercial general liability, business liability and construction and design law practice groups.  He is a former intern for the Honorable Keith Starrett in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.  Kamp received his J. D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Michael Koustoukis, who joins the firm’s professional liability and government law practice groups.  He brings local and national experience in law enforcement litigation as well as land use and zoning.  Koustoukis received his J. D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. 

Daniel A. Nicholson, who joins the firm’s construction law and complex commercial litigation practice groups.   He is the former director of the Kinship Care Pro Bono Society in Albany, New York.  Nicholson received his J. D. from Albany Law School. 

The new attorney in Philadelphia is:

Courtney Mazzio, who joins the firm’s commercial general liability, construction professional liability and labor and employment practices.  Prior to joining the firm, she interned with the Veterans Law Clinic at Widener University, where she also received her J.D.
