A new, interdisciplinary center within Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business will promote engaged scholarship into contemporary business problems through collaboration between alumni of Robinson’s Executive Doctorate in Business program, faculty and doctoral students.
 
The Center for Engaged Business Research will be housed at Georgia State’s Buckhead Center. Professor Lars Mathiassen, academic director of the Executive Doctorate in Business program, will serve as director of the new center.
 
The center was established to address two issues facing alumni of the Executive Doctorate program: To foster opportunities to collaborate on post-graduate research projects; and to facilitate publication of their work in peer-reviewed business journals and presentation at conferences. It also will offer businesses the opportunity to partner on research with graduates of the Executive Doctorate program, Robinson faculty and doctoral students on practical business problems.
 
“Graduates of the Executive Doctorate in Business program who are involved in the Center for Engaged Business Research will be able to launch and develop research that can be to the benefit of the company or networks they work in,” said Mathiassen.
 
In addition to serving as a facility for research activities, the center also will hold workshops and seminars, and maintain a network of alumni, faculty and students from other U.S. and international executive doctorate programs that are members of the Executive Doctorate in Business Administration Council.
