Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Punch Bowl Social, the leader in the “eatertainment” movement, announced that it will open a 27,000 square-foot restaurant, bar and entertainment concept in The Battery Atlanta in September 2017. Punch Bowl Social has made a name for itself with its remarkably balanced execution of the eat, drink, play or “eatertainment” concept, pairing a Chef Hugh Acheson designed, southern inspired scratch-made menu and craft beverage program with “old-school” social activities and vintage video games.

The move strategically positions Punch Bowl Social in the heart of the Metro Atlanta’s newest lifestyle destination and adjacent to SunTrust Park, the new world class home of the Atlanta Braves. The two-story Atlanta property will include eight bowling lanes, one bocce court, three private karaoke rooms, a custom built 360 degree bar and various lounging and gathering spots – for groups both large and small - housed in an eclectic space melding mountain lodge, Victorian and modern industrial design elements. A 2,200-square-foot, rooftop patio will round out the offerings, delivering incredible views of the surrounding area.

Punch Bowl Social founder & CEO Robert Thompson noted his enthusiasm for the Atlanta expansion with a nod to the hometown team. “The Atlanta Braves have one of the most impressive histories in Major League Baseball,” he said. “We’re obviously thrilled to count them among our new neighbors and have no doubt that The Battery Atlanta, with its promise of an elevated live, work, play environment and game day excitement, will quickly become one of the most popular destinations.”

Punch Bowl Social’s rapidly expanding success – it boasts properties in eight other cities with more scheduled to open over the next two years –  is due in equal measure to its ability to attract the highly sought after millennial audience, paired with an impressive disruption of the “eatertainment” business model. Under Thompson’s leadership and in his own words, at Punch Bowl Social, “food and drink no longer take a back seat to games or other forms of entertainment.”

This food-forward approach – which includes partnering with Acheson, a restauranteur, cookbook author, Top Chef judge and James Beard award winner – is gaining national attention. So successful is Punch Bowl Social, in fact, that Inc. Magazine featured the brand and its founder in a six-page spread in the December/January print issue. In it, the author noted that Punch Bowl Social has quite literally, “broken from the pack.”

It was the brand’s unparalleled success and strong, broad appeal that captured the attention of the development team behind The Battery Atlanta. “The Battery Atlanta will bring a new standard of living to the Atlanta market,” said Mike Plant, Atlanta Braves president, development. “To support this vision, it was critical that we seek out partner tenants capable of delivering exceptional experiences to a wide audience. We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Punch Bowl Social to the neighborhood.”
