NCR Foundation has approved a $100,000 grant to Women in Technology, to be used to support WIT Girls and WIT Campus programs in under-served areas of the Atlanta metro area.

"NCR and the NCR Foundation are proud to partner with WIT to support programs designed to encourage students pursuing technology careers. We are committed to increasing diversity in the tech industry, especially in Atlanta, home to our new Global Headquarters campus under construction in Midtown."

- Yvonne Whitaker, NCR Foundation lead

"As both an active member of WIT and an NCR employee, I am delighted that the NCR Foundation has selected Women in Technology to receive this grant. This contribution will enable the expansion of the WIT Girls program into a number of under-served communities, as well as the WIT Campus Program to additional campuses. The extension of the two programs combined will significantly impact WIT's ability to continue the mission of educating and exposing young women and girls to career possibilities in STEM."

- Julie Untener, IT Vice President – IT Governance, NCR, and active member of WIT

WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY MISSION and VISION

Mission: To serve as passionate advocates for women of all ages in Georgia’s STEM community.

Vision
: Make Georgia the state with the highest percentage of women in the STEM workforce by providing opportunities that champion women throughout their education and career.

Research shows that in 2015 just 25% of computing jobs in the U.S. were held by women, down from 35% in 1990. During the same time period, the number of women earning engineering degrees also declined.

WIT Girls/Campus events provide a secure, supportive, women/girl environment that implements a structure of education and tools to allow students to see what a great impact they can have on the field of STEM. NCR’s funding will allow WIT to expand its WIT Girls programs into under-served areas of the Atlanta metro area, including: Forest Park, Riverdale, Conley, Conyers, Morrow, College Park, East Point, Union City, Douglasville, Hapeville.

"WIT is delighted to have been awarded the NCR grant as it allows us to expand our programs to more girls and young women to the field of STEM.  By expanding the WIT Girls and WIT Campus programs, we are able to develop new, diverse untapped talent from communities across Metro Atlanta that will impact workforce development and drive future internship and employment recruitment efforts.  It is exciting to support the next generation of STEM innovation!"
