Morehouse School of Medicine has been chosen as the Tom Joyner Foundation School of the Month for May 2017. As the school of the month, the TJF will promote raising funds for the institution and highlight its programs that are educating the next generation of health and science leaders. MSM's goal of raising $100,000 will be featured daily on Joyner's nationally syndicated radio show the Tom Joyner Morning Show during the month of May.

"We are proud to partner with the Tom Joyner Foundation to support our students," said Bennie Harris, Ph.D., vice president of institutional advancement and marketing & communications. "This is an opportunity to share academic programs and the exceptional work completed by our faculty, staff and students on a national platform."

The school of the month is the signature program of the foundation. Annually, TJF selects 11 Historically Black Colleges and Universities as partners. During the month of the partnership, funds are raised in support of student scholarships and initiatives to assist with supporting the institution throughout 2017.

During May, donations for MSM will be promoted on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, which has more than 8 million listeners each week in more than 115 markets. The institution will also be featured on the foundation's website.

In addition to assisting with fundraising, the Tom Joyner Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship to a successful male MSM student every week in May. The Hercules Scholars program, named in honor of Joyner's father, serves to celebrate male students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills and community service. Award recipients will be chosen by TJF and announced on the Tom Joyner Morning Show every Thursday.
