Atlanta REALTORS Releases June 2017 Statistics on Housing Market

Atlanta REALTORS, the largest association of its kind in Georgia, released its June 2017 Market Brief on residential housing statistics for 11 area counties in metropolitan Atlanta. The Market Brief, compiled by First Multiple Listing Service, provides the only regionally-focused synopsis of monthly sales and home prices for single family residential properties.    

Demand: June residential sales were at 5,974, a decrease of 2.0% from the previous year.

Price: Average and median sales prices continue to gain traction and outpace 2016’s figures, with positive gains. The median sales price in June was $267,000, an increase of 6.8% from last June. The average sales price was $327,000, up 6.5% from the previous year.            

Supply: Atlanta area housing inventory totaled 15,498 units in June, a decrease of 4.9% from June, 2016. New listings totaled 5,731, down 2.0% from June, 2016 and up 2.9% from the previous month. The month’s supply over a 12-month period increased to 3.2 months.           

A Word from 2017 Atlanta REALTORS President Bill Rawlings: “The number of year-over-year transactions maintains a pace that tracks with the overall economy, and prices continue an even stronger recovery trend as the inventory levels remain at about 3 months, which is tighter than last year and a sign of a healthy local market.”
