Tuesday, July 11th, 2017

The Dillard House has been synonymous with great food for a century. This farm to table iconic restaurant is celebrating its Centennial year by partnering with Southbound Brewing Company from Savannah, Georgia to create a beer-pairing dinner called “Brew and Crew” on July 22nd. “This is a fantastic collaboration because both companies believe in delivering the best product with the freshest ingredients and stake their reputations on it,” says Louise Dillard, CEO of The Dillard House in Dillard, Georgia. She adds, “We want folks to join us and bring their friends for an enjoyable evening.” Tickets are $60 for the five course beer pairing dinner, and all guests will receive a souvenir pint glass.

Southbound Brewing Company is unique in Georgia’s booming craft beer industry history because it was the first production brewery in Savannah, Georgia. Smith Mathews, Brewmaster and managing partner, will share his passion about craft beer during dinner and what inspired the creation of the five featured beers, describing each beer’s flavor, appearance and aroma. He will discuss craft beer trends, what the future looks like in this popular movement and hopes beer enthusiasts will ask questions about the brewing process.

“Being able to partner with The Dillard House during its centennial year is an honor,” said Mathews. “I’m excited to showcase my beer in the north Georgia mountains because they are refreshing, have underlying citrus notes and will be a perfect summertime treat for guests to enjoy with The Dillard House’s delicious food.” Mathews promises an informative, fun, entertaining evening with the help of Justin Dukes and bandmates who will entertain after the beer paired dinner. Dukes is a rising Nashville star that draws huge country music crowds.

Mathews has been in the beer business for ten years.  He is a graduate of Brewing Technology from the prestigious Sielbel Institute of Technology in Chicago and the Doemens World Brewing Academy in Munich, Germany. He previously brewed for Sweetwater Brewing Co. in Atlanta before founding Southbound Brewing Company. After three years in operation, the popular brewery has experienced impressive growth. “We are proud the beers are brewed on the coast, and you can find Southbound throughout Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina to date,” he said.

After the dinner and program, Justin Dukes’ band will take the stage to entertain. The 2015 Georgia Music Awards Country Music Male Artist of the Year is from Vidalia, Georgia and has risen quickly in the country music circles, opening for the likes of Vince Gill and Charlie Daniels.
