Mayor Kasim Reed hosted the 20th annual Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament. The annual tournament, which raises money for the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program, brought together Atlantans from all over the metropolitan area to make a tremendous investment in the lives of promising Atlanta high school students. The event was held at Piedmont Driving Club, and raised nearly $200,000 to provide scholarships for Atlanta students to attend a college or university of their choice.

“The Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament is the primary fundraiser for the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program, and I am so thankful for the strong support from this year’s participants,” said Mayor Reed. “The Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program helps our high school graduates attend college and reduce the burden of student debt, allowing them to focus on their studies and futures.”

The event attracted top Atlanta-based companies which sponsored teams to raise money for the scholarship program, including UPS, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Power, HJ Russell & Company, North American Properties, CW Matthews, and Topgolf.

For the last 12 years, the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program has provided more than 3,000 Atlanta high school graduates with financial support to pursue post-secondary education and attend any college or university of their choice. MYSP provides up to $5,000 per semester and $10,000 per academic year to pay the balance of unmet student obligations. Last year, MYSP awarded more than $730,000 to 105 scholars.
