Friday, August 11th, 2017

Registration is officially open for the fourth annual Cyber Georgia @ Augusta University, which will bring the nation’s top cybersecurity experts to the area. Hosted by Augusta University and the Georgia Chamber, Cyber Georgia @ Augusta University fosters collaboration among industry, academia, and government to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity.

“Augusta University is at the center of the cyber tsunami that has hit our area. As a leader in cyber education, as well as a research university and academic health center, it is our duty to prepare the professionals and facilitate the important conversations that will further protect our community, our state, and our great nation in cyberspace,” Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel, PhD, said. “We are excited to partner with the Georgia Chamber once again to bring the country’s top minds to our campus to discuss the latest in health care cybersecurity.”

This year’s program will examine global cyber threats and discuss how to better prepare for cyberattacks in the hospital and public health arena.

Keynote speakers this year are Lt. Gen. Vincent R. Stewart, the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and the commander of Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and Lt. Gen. Paul M. Nakasone, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Cyber Command. Former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss will serve as this year’s honorary host. Chambliss previously served as vice chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

“We’re really excited to be partnering with Augusta University on this event for a second year in-a-row,” President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber Chris Clark said. “Recently in the news, we’ve seen a wave of cyberattacks crippling both big and small businesses. Events like Cyber Georgia are essential when it comes to not only addressing the issue, but finding realistic solutions to preventing the continuation of cyberattacks in the future.”

The 2017 Cyber Georgia @ Augusta University will take place Oct. 12 and 13 at the J. Harold Harrison, MD Education Commons on the university’s Health Sciences Campus. To register or for more information, visit www.cyberga.com.
