United Way of Greater Atlanta and Partners Announce Harvey Relief Effort

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Wednesday, September 6th, 2017

As hundreds of thousands of people across Texas deal with the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the Greater Atlanta community is eager for ways to help. United Way of Greater Atlanta has partnered with the Atlanta Braves, Chick-fil-A Foundation and many other corporate and philanthropic partners to collect and send much-needed items.

There are three ways that people can get involved in the relief effort:

1) Donate Items

Needed items included diapers, baby wipes, shampoo/conditioner and many other home and hygiene products. From September 4 through 11, items can be donated via bins at SunTrust Park (755 Battery Avenue SE) and two United Way of Greater Atlanta locations (100 Edgewood Avenue NE and 995 Roswell Street in Marietta).

2) Volunteer

Volunteer on September 11 from 11 am to 2 pm at SunTrust Park to sort, organize and assemble care packages for those impacted by the hurricane. Volunteer spots are limited. Click here to register.

3) Financial Contribution

Donating is the easiest form of giving, but it can be the most valuable to those who have lost everything. Click here to donate to those impacted.

More information on items needed, volunteer sign-up, and donations can be found here.
