GDOT Awards $57.3M in Construction Contracts

Georgia DOT has awarded 10 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $57,370,071. These projects were advertised in August and bids were received on September 22; nine contracts were awarded on October 6 and one was awarded on October 11 to the lowest qualified bidder.
 
The largest single monetary investment is for resurfacing of almost 13 miles of SR 54 from the Coweta County line to north of McDonough Road in Fayette County. The $14.1 million contract was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. of Snellville, Ga. with an anticipated completion date of August 31, 2018.
 
Bridge construction and rehabilitation contracts comprise the bulk of the funds awarded. This includes construction of three replacement bridges on SR 200 and SR 216 over Ichawaynochaway Creek in Baker County. The $12.4 million contract was awarded to Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. of Albany, Ga. with an anticipated completion of May 31, 2020.
 
Bridge-related contracts were also awarded in Bibb, Calhoun, Crawford, Lamar, Meriwether, Monroe, Muscogee and Richmond counties.
 
These awards bring the three-month Fiscal Year 2018 total construction contracts to $258 million. FY18 began July 1.
