Tuesday, October 31st, 2017

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes, Georgia Piedmont Technical College is pleased to announce it has executed a transfer agreement with Kilimanjaro Information Technology College, an institution of higher learning located in Tanzania.  The agreement was signed on October 9, 2017 by Dr. Thomas Smith, president of KITC, and Dr. Jabari Simama, president of Georgia Piedmont.

“I am excited that we are able to form an international relationship with Kilimanjaro Information Technology College,” stated Dr. Simama.  “This agreement gives rise to the possibility of an exchange student program.  Georgia Piedmont has experience in that area, as we hosted German exchange students last spring,” Dr. Simama continued.

The overall purpose of the Georgia Piedmont and KITC agreement is to facilitate an academic and cultural exchange between the two institutions.  Each school will invite the other to participate in conferences, summer camps, online discussions and onsite advising.  To date, Georgia Piedmont’s Early Childhood Care and Education faculty members have worked closely with KITC administrators to align the two schools’ Early Childhood Education curricula.

After a period of three years, administrators from both institutions will review the transfer agreement to evaluate its effectiveness.
