Georgia was well represented this week at the world’s largest payments & financial services innovation event in Las Vegas, Money 20/20. Attendees included 20 large Atlanta companies, 156 FinTech companies with presence in Georgia, 12 Atlanta speakers and 14 Atlanta panel/pitch sessions. In addition, we hosted a high-profile curated discussion with Bloomberg at a CEO dinner, more than 60 people (14 large funds) attended our venture capital reception, we had more than 10 individual meetings in our lounge for partners and a sold out reception for more than 300 people. In addition, a huge marketing effort, showing our FinTech Atlanta™ posters and signs around the event.

Georgia has evolved to become the epicenter of a growing segment of the FinTech, or financial services, industry with 70 percent of U.S. financial transactions passing through Georgia. And, in FY17, our FinTech industry saw an outstanding 250 percent increase.

Our FinTech companies generate an annual revenue of more than $72 billion, and collectively process more than 118 billion transactions per year. Together, this represents $2 trillion of purchase volume each year, supporting nearly 4 million merchants.

With our partners at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and FinTech Atlanta – we had an incredibly successful time in Las Vegas. Things are looking great for Georgia as we continue to rise as a leader in the FinTech industry.
