The City of Atlanta announced that Mayor Kasim Reed participated in the Global Board Leaders’ Summit, which is presented by the National Association of Corporate Directors in Washington, D.C. Now in its 40th year, the NACD Summit is the largest forum for corporate directors in the world. The Summit brings public and private sector leaders together to exchange best practices, identify new and developing trends and address timely and critical challenges. Mayor Reed was one of six dynamic board leaders and the only U.S. city mayor who served as a featured speaker at the four-day summit.
“Atlanta was hit hard by the Great Recession, but we bounced back and stabilized the City’s finances by building alliances with labor and business leaders, and by focusing on increasing efficiency and reducing waste throughout City government,” said Mayor Reed. “I want to thank the National Association of Corporate Directors for sponsoring this important conversation about overcoming urban challenges in the twenty-first century. The City of Atlanta has a terrific story to tell about its rise to becoming a leading global city, and I appreciated sharing our practices and our vision with such an informed body of leaders.”
Mayor Reed participated in a one-on-one interview with NACD Chief Programming Officer Erin Essenmacher about his time in office and his achievements in restoring the City’s financial stability following the Great Recession. Mayor Reed also discussed the importance of continuing the use of public-private partnerships to encourage innovation and growth in the City of Atlanta.

Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State; Richard Edelman, President and CEO, Edleman; Brené Brown, Founder and CEO, COURAGEworks, Brave Leaders Inc.; Jeffrey Ubben, Co-Founder, CEO, ValueAct Capital; and Ellen J.
