United Way of Greater Atlanta announced that Sarah Ming Hsi will join as Chief Information Officer. Hsi most recently served as the Assistant General Manager of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at MARTA. Hsi had been with MARTA for over 15 years, implementing various mission-critical applications including Automated Fare Collection, Automated Vehicle Locator, and Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

Hsi’s focus at UWGA will be four-fold: converting data to intelligence, leveraging technology to improve the stakeholder experience, strategic planning for technology resources, and oversight of systems and processes.

“Improving the welfare of families and neighborhoods is our mission. Building community by nurturing children and empowering families is our cause. For our work, data is gold that requires sophisticated mining. Sarah is the perfect person to help us marry information systems to mission,” said Tim Pakenham, COO of Atlanta’s United Way. “As CIO, Sarah will serve the broad enterprise and will also play a critical strategic role as we build the United Way of Greater Atlanta for the next generation.”

“The opportunity to help turn the organization’s data into a roadmap for bettering the community is incredibly exciting, says Hsi. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to join the team at UWGA and be part of advancing child well-being in our community.”

Hsi was recently honored by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association and was named the 2016 Georgia CIO of the Year for the public sector.
