According to the American College of Sports Medicine, 25,000 Americans suffer from an ankle sprain each day - that's nearly 9 million every year. Ankle injuries account for almost half of all sports injuries. But today, the creators of Better Walk Crutches, BWHealth, are announcing the launch of the first ever preventative ankle brace known as Lasso.

This patent-pending product mimics Kinesio-Taping through a compression technology that creates pressure along the ankle muscles and ligaments. Lasso protects users from common injuries while still allowing them the flexibility to strengthen the surrounding muscles. This cutting-edge technology allows users to perform at their best without the limitations of a traditional ankle brace.

"Since my work with Nike to Beats By Dre, I have been pitched on hundreds of new product ideas," said DJ Skee, a renowned radio personality, TV host, and founder of Dash Radio. "But Lasso is different. Their team has combined traditional medicine with a designer feel to create a product that has never before existed. And the best part is that this really works. It is a game changer for athletes everywhere."

After working with Lasso, DJ Skee is now an active Advisor for the company and working to promote it to athletes and users across the globe.

Why was Lasso created? Because traditional ankle braces and taping miss the mark in terms of treatment and recovery. Here are the facts:

  • Restrictive Bracing INCREASES the Frequency of Injury - Bracing limits micro-movements that strengthen the injured area. Over time, this weakens the surrounding tissue and causes the athlete to become dependent on the brace for ankle health.

  • Kinesio-Taping is Better, but Disposable - Flexible taping of injured joints is popular in Physical Therapy because it still allows for movement, but protects the athlete from extreme motions (like twisting). Lasso offers the same support, without the hassle of taping up before every practice or game.

  • Neuromuscular Training Helps Strengthen Ligaments, but Requires Training - Studies show Neuromuscular training is vital to healing and strengthening injured areas. It focuses on micro-movements and prevents athletes from becoming dependent on a brace. Lasso gives you freedom of movement to strengthen those surrounding areas, but still protects you from further damage.

"Our goal at BWHealth is to create products that offer an alternative to traditional medical solutions. We believe people should live without restriction, both in life and in sports," said BWHealth Founder and CEO, Partha Unnava. "No product should inhibit people to move the way they want to. Lasso is not just for rehabilitation but is best used for injury prevention. It is truly a new kind of activewear and is being released to the public just in time for holidays."
