The Waffle House Museum is opening its doors for a special holiday celebration December 9 from noon until 3 pm.
In addition to touring the first Waffle House and seeing memorabilia from the 62-year history of the restaurant company, visitors will be able to make their own holiday-themed waffle.
“Since opening in 2008, the holiday open house is one of the most festive events we do each year at the museum,” said Waffle House event coordinator Katie Beam, “This will be a great day to come out, craft you own holiday waffle and then enjoy it alongside others from the Waffle Nation.”
The Waffle House Museum opened in 2008, and is on the site of the first Waffle House restaurant that opened on Labor Day 1955. The restaurant is restored to its 1950s look, while the museum next door shows the history of the chain that started in Avondale Estates by two neighbors, Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner.
