Handcrafted Homes, Inc., a home design, construction and remodeling company, has won two CotY (Contractor of the Year) awards from the Atlanta Chapter of NARI, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.  The Roswell-based firm took top honors in the category of Residential Interior From $75,000-$150,000 and Residential Interior Under $75,000.

The remodeling project honored with the first award also received a Gold OBIE from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association earlier this year.  For the Brookhaven homeowners, Handcrafted Homes, Inc. remodeled their dark, outdated family room into a dramatic, bright gathering space with enhanced views of Silver Lake.  Details included structural improvements, a new roofline, flooring, lighting, HVAC, windows and fireplace to enhance the beauty and function of the room.  A statement light fixture and custom-designed modern fireplace and hearth serve as focal points of the new space.

The CotY Award for a project under $75,000 was a unique garage makeover for an artist in the Morningside neighborhood near Midtown.  A homeowner who carves wood as a hobby asked Handcrafted Homes to transform his under-utilized garage into a spacious and functional carving studio.  The new space now contains its own HVAC system, tankless water heater and fine particulate air filter to take care of airborne sawdust.  Light and security are provided by carriage doors with a remote-controlled insect screen.  Functional additions include a sink, workbench, spot lighting and custom cabinets where the homeowner can store his hand tools.  The bookmatched hickory cabinets, Bubinga plank style countertop and Western Red Cedar soffits and beams are both functional and decorative, reflecting the homeowner’s love of beautiful wood.
