Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, March 26th, 2018

The Alpharetta Business Association is presenting two Candidate Forums for City residents and business owners to hear the candidates for City Council and Mayor discuss issues and answer questions in advance of the election on May 22.

On Monday, April 23, candidates running for open City Council seats will be participating in a Candidate Forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a meet and greet followed by a question and answer session from 7:00 to 8:30. The candidates for Post 3, Katie Harding and Karen Richard, and candidates for Post 4, John Hipes and Clifford Martin, will be participating.

On Tuesday, May 1, candidates running for Mayor of Alpharetta will participate in their own Candidate Forum with the same format beginning at 6:30 and ending at 8:30. Both candidates, Jim Gilvin and Chris Owen will be participating.

Both Candidate Forums will be held at Alpharetta City Hall in the multi-purpose room on the first floor. City Hall is located at 2 Park Plaza. The Forums will be moderated by ABA President John Ray and will feature opening statements from each candidate as well as the question and answer session. The Forum is free and open to the public. This event is independently presented by the ABA and has no affiliation to the City of Alpharetta aside from the free use of the room for a public information event.

“The ABA is committed to the City of Alpharetta and our members are actively involved in the business community. We feel it’s important to allow business owners and City residents the opportunity to hear from all the candidates and ask them questions about issues that impact the business and residential communities of the City. We look forward to hearing from each of the candidates,” said John Ray.

The special election will be held on Tuesday, May 22 to fill the three vacancies and is open to all registered voters in the City of Alpharetta at their regular polling locations. For more information about the election, contact the Alpharetta City Clerk.
