With a donation of more than $550,000 and employee volunteers joining homeowners in multiple local Habitat for Humanity builds, Assurant kicks off its national partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Thousands of Assurant employee volunteer hours are committed in 2018 to help families build strength, stability, independence and shelter across the country.

“Habitat for Humanity is a long-time, valued partner in the communities where Assurant employees live and work,” said Shawn Kahle, vice president of Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement and executive director of the Assurant Foundation. “As we strive to help people protect what matters most, growing our relationship with Habitat to benefit the lives of families worldwide is a great next step for Assurant.”

Assurant and Habitat will work together in 2018 to help families achieve the dream of homeownership.“We are honored and grateful for Assurant’s commitment to Habitat,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, senior vice president of Development for Habitat for Humanity International. “Because of their support, more families will have a safe, decent place to call home.”

Assurant supports its communities through charitable giving, employee volunteerism and social impact investments. Assurant volunteer teams pitch in year-round to build homes, support the homeless, help children learn to read and ensure students understand the basics of household budgeting. Assurant annually provides employees with eight hours of paid time to volunteer and $1,000 per employee per year in matching gifts.
