The City of East Point Presents “The Healthy Point” 90 Day Health Initiative

The City of East Point is leading the charge on living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the City through its 90-day health initiative known as “The Healthy Point.” This initiative aims to increase healthy lifestyle choices of East Point residents and create a more active and connected community. During the health initiative, residents will have the opportunity to participate in activities and workout with Mayor/Council up to three times a week. The first 50 people to register will receive an Activity Tracker.

“It is important that we strive to be a healthier city together,” said Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham who championed this initiative. “This 90 Day Health Initiative is a collaborative effort with organizations in the City to get people active and knowledgeable about the healthy options that are provided in the great City of East Point. I am excited about the opportunity to get more active, fit and healthy together with Council, staff and residents.”

The free kick-off event for this initiative will take place on March 24, 2018, at the John D. Milner Athletic Complex at 8:00 a.m. At the kick-off, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy walking around the park with Mayor /Council. The City has also partnered with a variety of health-conscious organizations that will showcase their products and share information with residents about healthy options in the City.

During this 90-day health initiative, participants are encouraged to participate in classes offered at the City of East Point Jefferson Park Recreation Center and other health activities and events of their choice happening in the City. Events include the East Point Farmers Market, Line Dancing, 39th Annual Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk, Relay for Life of South Fulton Atlanta, Tri-Cities 10K-5K Run/Walk, East Point Fire Department’s Health Expo, and Kids to Parks Day. Participants are encouraged to track their progress using their Activity Tracker and to upload pictures of themselves at health events in the City on social media using the hashtag #TheHealthyPoint.
