Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Tuesday, March 27th, 2018

JE Dunn Construction will be one of the construction managers playing a key role in the development of a new campus for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the hospital recently announced.

The more than 70-acre campus will include a replacement hospital with an attached medical office building, support buildings and more than 20 acres of greenspace — allowing Children’s to serve Georgia’s growing pediatric population.

Children’s picked J.E. Dunn as the construction manager for its planned support building. JE Dunn will also have a key role on the master plan development, serving as the construction manager of the medical office building adjoining the new hospital, central utility plant, parking decks, and site improvements for the new campus.

“We appreciate this extraordinary opportunity to contribute to Children’s transformative new campus and are honored to work with the project team that Children’s has selected,” said Stuart Bruening, Vice President for JE Dunn.

The eight-level, 348,000-square-foot support building will accommodate employee offices, dining, fitness center, employee health clinic, and a learning center. Pedestrian and vehicular bridges will connect employees to a new parking deck.

Groundbreaking for the support building is expected this spring, with completion scheduled in the first quarter of 2020. Children’s says this timing ensures that construction on the replacement hospital will be completed by 2025.

Architects for the support building include tvsdesign for the building’s core and shell, Hendrick for interior design services, and HGOR for the landscape design.
