Google and National PTA to Host Family Online Safety Workshop for Metro Atlanta Parents and Guardians April 23rd

Data privacy and security are top of mind today. It’s essential that parents and guardians know the basics of online safety so they can protect their families — and themselves — online.
 
That’s why Google and National PTA have teamed up to welcome Metro Atlanta parents and guardians to Google’s local office for the ‘Atlanta Family Online Safety Workshop.’ This pilot program is kicking off in Atlanta and will feature presentations from Google with essential tips for online safety and parent-centered online safety workshops led by National PTA.
 
As part of the Family Online Safety Workshop initiative, Google will release the results from its Atlanta Family Online Safety survey, which includes findings about 1,000 Atlanta families’ online safety habits and perceptions.
 
A preview of those findings includes:
 
The vast majority - 81% - of surveyed parents have spoken to their kids about online bullying or harassment.

Only 29% of surveyed parents say they use two-step verification, a second lock on your account in addition to your password.
