Last month, Atlanta Technical College’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership Award Winner, Ms. Loretta Grissom, and Rick Perkins Award Winner, Ms. Marisha Singleton, were named state finalists in their respective categories at the Technical College System of Georgia’s Annual Awards Banquet. Atlanta Technical College was one of only four TCSG schools to advance their student and teacher award winners to the final round of competition.

“We are so proud of Loretta’s achievement – she embodies what it means to be Atlanta Technical College strong,” said Dr. Victoria Seals, President, Atlanta Technical College. “Loretta has distinguished herself as an exemplarily student who exceeds expectations at every turn. She dedicated herself to academic excellence, while maintaining a full-time career alongside raising her children. The future is indeed bright for Loretta as she begins her new career in the hospitality industry.”

The GOAL program, now in its 47th year, recognizes the most outstanding technical education students at each of the 22 TCSG colleges and the technical division at Bainbridge State College. The Rick Perkins Award, now in its 28th year, highlights excellence in technical instruction.

“When we talk about transforming lives through the power of education, we’re talking about Marisha Singleton,” said Dr. Victoria Seals, President, Atlanta Technical College. “She brings an unmatched passion and enthusiasm to campus each day, always willing to do whatever it takes to help a student succeed.

Atlanta Technical College, and the communities we serve, are beyond lucky to have someone of Ms. Singleton’s caliber educating the next generation of Georgia’s workforce.”

Ms. Grissom and Ms. Singleton were each chosen as one of nine finalist in the two award categories. Crystal Wright of Georgia Piedmont Technical College received the State GOAL Award and Stephanie O’Donoghue of Chattahoochee Technical College received the 2018 State Rick Perkins Award.
