Wednesday, June 20th, 2018

Cobb County Tax Commissioner Carla Jackson has appointed Heather Walker as chief deputy.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held June 20 at 1 p.m. in the ceremonial courtroom of the Cobb County Superior Court, 70 Haynes Street in Marietta.

Walker began her career with the Cobb County Tax Commissioner’s Office in 2007, as a frontline operator in the Motor Vehicle Division. She has held other positions including tax specialist II and III. She became a branch manager in 2015, and was selected as a member of the senior tax management team in 2016.

With the retirement of Michele McDuffie, who served as chief deputy for four years, Walker has been appointed to fill that position.

She holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor of science in management from Shorter University. She is also a member of the Sigma Beta Delta honor society, a 2017 graduate of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government EXCEL program, a certified business golfer with Golf Women Mean Business, an advocate for Shriners’ Hospitals for Children and a supporter of MUST Ministries.

The Cobb County Tax Commissioner’s Office is responsible for every phase of collecting and disbursing ad valorem property taxes, titling and registering motor vehicles and mobile homes, administering homestead exemptions and levying on property for delinquent taxes.
