SOS Kemp Reminds Seven Licensed Groups to Renew Before September Deadline

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, August 13th, 2018

Secretary of State Brian Kemp encourages associate marriage and family therapists, associate professional counselors, clinical social workers, hair designers, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, and master social workers to go online to renew their professional licenses before the September 30, 2018 deadline.

“For the roughly 18,000 licensees who must renew by the end of September, my staff stands ready to assist you,” explained Secretary Kemp. “We remain focused on getting Georgians to work as quickly as possible by removing unnecessary hurdles. Do not wait until the last minute to renew your license. It has never been easier to utilize our simple online renewal process.”

Visit the Professional Licensing Board’s website by the expiration date to complete the online license renewal process. Consult the office’s step-by-step instructions for assistance. Once payment has been submitted and renewal verified, payment receipt and professional license can be printed. Please remember to submit continuing education documents if you have been selected for an audit.

License-holders are subject to a late fee in order to bring the expired license into compliance if a license-holder fails to renew their license before the appropriate deadline. Georgia law prohibits professional license-holders from conducting unlicensed practice, which includes practicing with an expired license. Failing to renew a license by the end of the established late renewal period will result in a lapsed license. At that time, individuals must apply for reinstatement and meet all application requirements at the discretion of the board.
