Georgia State University is ranked the second most innovative university in the nation and second in the country for its commitment to undergraduate teaching in the 2019 Best Colleges edition of U.S. News & World Report magazine.

Georgia State was the fourth most innovative institution in last year’s rankings. It was eighth last year among national universities cited for an “unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.” Arizona State University is first in this year’s innovation ranking and Princeton University topped the undergraduate teaching ranking.

The innovation and undergraduate teaching rankings are based on a survey of presidents, provosts and admissions deans at colleges and universities across the country.

Long recognized as one of the nation’s most diverse institutions, Georgia State is 10^thin U.S. News’ ranking of the most ethnically diverse national universities.

“Innovation has become part of the culture at Georgia State, and we are extremely pleased that the higher education community across the country recognizes the work we are doing,” said Mark Becker, president of Georgia State. “We are delighted, too, that our faculty has earned recognition for the deep commitment they have to providing our students with an extraordinary education.”

The university’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business moved from 64^thlast year to 44^ththis year in the magazine’s ranking of undergraduate business programs. Its insurance and risk management program rose from fifth to third. The business school and program rankings are based on a survey of deans and senior faculty at institutions across the country.
