Investing in Georgia’s Workforce: A U.S.-Japan Dialogue September 6th

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

Georgia is home to a young, growing population of over 10 million people entering an increasingly technologically advanced twenty-first century workplace. With more than 432 facilities in Georgia, Japan is a leading international investor employing over 26,000 workers.

On September 6, Sasakawa USA, the U.S. Department of State, the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta, and the Georgia Institute of Technology will co-host a luncheon panel discussion to explore how Japanese and U.S. firms, state and local authorities, and educational institutions can work together to train and develop Georgia’s workforce. Panelists will address Georgia’s future workforce needs, approaches to workforce development, and opportunities for stakeholder collaboration.

Local supporting organizations include the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Japan-America Society of Georgia, and the Technical College System of Georgia.

This event is offered as part of Sasakawa USA’s The Alliance Working in America program. It also supports the U.S.-Japan Economic Dialogue’s effort to increase bilateral collaboration on developing employees who perform successfully as technological advancements change the 21st century workplace, creating jobs and promoting economic growth in both countries.

The on-the-record discussion is open to the public. Members of the local government, businesses, educational institutions, and the media are invited to attend. Lunch will be served.
