The Krystal Foundation has selected 24 schools to receive $53,571 in enrichment funding. These schools were chosen from 104 applications received during the Foundation's first grant window for the 2018-2019 academic year.

"This is absolutely the most gratifying part of my job," said Paul Macaluso, The Krystal Foundation president and Krystal's president and CEO. "As an organization, Krystal is embedded in the communities we serve. We want to make a positive impact that improves the quality of life for future generations. The Foundation is Krystal's legacy."

Grant award winners include Compton Elementary School in Atlanta, where teachers plan to buy a Captain Planet Cooking Station to integrate math, science and social studies into hands-on cooking adventures in the classroom. Students at Calvin Donaldson Environmental Science Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee hope to participate in a local student-built electric car competition, while Communities in Schools (CIS) of Jacksonville, Florida will use its grant to support the FIRST LEGO League Program which targets at-risk disadvantaged children in afterschool programs designed to apply STEM concepts to problem solving.
