The Women of Global Change Atlanta Brings Christmas to Homeless Mothers & Children

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Thursday, November 29th, 2018

At the Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children's Shelter, the holidays can be a particularly difficult time of year for the residents: homeless mothers and their children. So the Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter are going to treat them to a special Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings while dining on fine linens, which will be donated by local companies. The kids will get to create holiday craft projects, and the moms will be treated to new pajamas and robes.

The event will take place on Thursday, December 13, and project organizers are seeking volunteers to join the project that evening from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. They are also working to raise $1,500 in donations to give to the Home of Hope, as well as donations for the pajamas, robes, crafts, and dinner.

The Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter is organizing this service project, working in coordination with Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children's Shelter, a nonprofit shelter that provides services for homeless children and their mothers in Buford, GA.

"The holidays are the most emotionally charged time of year for many people, and these women, in particular, have been through unimaginably difficult circumstances. And yet, they are trying to do right by their kids and give them joyful Christmas memories. So it's a privilege to be able to serve them and make their Christmas a little brighter," said Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter President Celeste Giordano.
