This year’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will feature a top-10 matchup between the No. 10 Florida Gators and the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines as announced today by the College Football Playoff selection committee.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played on Dec. 29 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be nationally televised by ESPN. Game time is set for noon ET leading into the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

Michigan will be making its first trip to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, while this will mark Florida’s third appearance in the game, but its first since 2004 when the Gators faced off against Miami. This year’s matchup also represents only the fourth Big Ten vs. SEC matchup in the Bowl’s 51-year history, but the first since 1990 when Auburn defeated Indiana.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better matchup for our first Big 10 vs. SEC game in 28 years with two top-10 teams,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl CEO and president. “We have a showdown between two storied programs that have combined for 14 National Championships, 50 conference championships and six Heisman Trophy winners. It’s going to be an incredible way to start the New Year’s Six bowl games.”

Florida (9-3, 5-3 SEC) enters the game 10th in the College Football Playoff rankings. First-year Florida head coach Dan Mullen has had an exceptional year turning the Gators around from a sub-.500 team last season to earning the program’s first New Year’s Six bowl bid in the CFP era. Florida’s defense ranks tied for 12th nationally (tied with Georgia) for fewest passing yards allowed (175.1 yards per game). The Gators also rank 26th nationally in rush offense (5.17 per carry) and 31st in scoring offense (34.5 per game). The Gator’s offense is led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Feleipe Franks who finished the season with 2,284 yards, 23 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

Michigan (10-2, 8-1 Big Ten) enters the game ranked seventh in the College Football Playoff. The Wolverines lead the nation in total defense (262.5 yards per game) after holding eight of 12 opponents to a season-low in total offense. Michigan also leads the nation in pass defense (145.9 avg.) and in pass efficiency defense (103.6 rating). Michigan finished the season with an 8-1 conference record, which is the program’s best Big Ten record since going 7-1 in 2004. Michigan’s offense is led by Shea Patterson who completed 65 percent of his passes for 2,364 yards and 21 touchdowns, to just five interceptions. He is also ranked sixth in the nation with a total QBR of 84.1. Senior running back Karan Higdon is 16th in the nation in rushing yards (1,178) and is first-team All-Big Ten.

Michigan leads the all-time series with Florida 4-0, with the most recent meeting resulting in a 33-17 Michigan victory in 2017.

This year’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl’s initial ticket inventory is already sold-out, marking the 20th time the Bowl has sold out in its last 22 games, dating back to 1997.

• Secondary Market– Fans may still be able to find tickets on the secondary ticket market by using the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl’s official secondary market ticket exchange through Ticketmaster.

• CFP Reservation System- The only other way to secure access to this year’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is through CFP-RSVP.COM, powered by dibit, which allows fans the opportunity to purchase reservations for any team and be guaranteed tickets at face value for the game – provided their team is playing in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The reservation system will reopen later today at 5 p.m. ET.
