GDOT Awards $8M in Construction Contracts for February

Georgia DOT has awarded three construction contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $8,049,361. The projects included in the award were advertised on January 25, bids were received on February 22 and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidder on March 8.   

The largest single investment is a $6.4 million contract to construct 0.39 mile of a bridge and approaches on US 23/State Route 19 over Norfolk-Southern Railroad in Jeff Davis County. This contract was awarded to McLendon Enterprises, Inc. The other bridge project awarded was a $1.1 million contract to construct 0.10 mile of a bridge on Ball Road over Pumpkin Creek in Randolph County. This contract was awarded to Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. Both contracts representing 93 percent of the awarded funds. 

The final contract, a resurfacing project, represents seven percent of the awarded funds, or $563,578. This contract will resurface 6.8 miles of roadway on Old Dixie Hwy from US 1/State Route 520 to the Folkston city limits in Charlton County. This contract was awarded to Littlefield Construction Company.

The February awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2019 to $394 million. Fiscal Year 2019 began July 1, 2018.
