Camp CEO Announces 10th Year Mentorship Class

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta will host its premier leadership camp, Camp CEO, May 29th through May 31st at Camp Meriwether in Luthersville, GA. This year marks the 10th year of Camp CEO, which partners high potential high school girls with more than thirty of Atlanta’s most sought-after CEO’s.

The Camp CEO program was created for women executives who want to share their knowledge and provide an environment where girls can learn key leadership skills from Atlanta’s top female business leaders.  Together, as mentors and mentees, they will develop a bond by sharing a once in a lifetime opportunity at this one of a kind camp.

“In today’s complex and rapidly changing world, girls need all the mentors they can get. Camp CEO provides successful female mentors to our older Girl Scouts as they navigate big life changes like going off to college and deciding on a career. They share all the things they wish they had known at 16 or 17 to help our girls make informed decisions about their future, and they encourage them to take risks and go for audacious goals” said Amy Dosik, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.

During the three - day program, a diverse group of high school girls who are committed to lead with courage, confidence and character will be coached by women leaders who will offer advice that will help them develop a plan for their future.  Each girl will have the opportunity to seek direction for specific life decisions that they are facing.

“When I signed up for Camp CEO, I did not anticipate that at age 47, I would build bonds and relationships with other women who are as committed and passionate about supporting young women as I am. I also did not anticipate that I would build several enduring and special bonds with a few of my Girl Scout mentees – relationships that have been both enriching and important. As we come to celebrate the 10thAnniversary of Camp CEO later this month, I am thrilled to be a part of a special group of women who are determined to make this the best experience yet. Through our time together, we will encourage these young women to be the trailblazers of their generation and set a powerful tone for their rise to leadership” said Jennifer Hale, Founder and CEO of The Hale Group and Co-Chair of the 2019 Camp CEO.

Many of the girls who have attended Camp CEO have gone on to earn the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, where girls identify a significant community problem and design a sustainable solution.  This year, 132 Girl Scouts earned the Gold Award, tackling issues from bee colony collapse to mental health awareness.
