Tensar International Corporation has released findings of its survey of infrastructure engineers on their adoption of construction product innovation that it conducted of infrastructure engineers in conjunction with Informed Infrastructure Magazine.  Results show low willingness to adopt innovations on road infrastructure projects but overwhelmingly high satisfaction with results when previously unused but proven innovation are embraced.

Results summary:

Most respondents (72%) said that they would be willing to try or recommend trying a new but previously unused product if was proven to increase the design life of the pavement structure without increasing the cost.

Still, only 39% of respondents actually recommended or routinely used previously unused products to improve time, cost or quality on a road construction project in the past year.

The majority (56%) of those who did adopt an innovative construction product did so because of a problem that emerged on the project site rather than because of any forward planning.

However, those infrastructure engineers who did recommend adoption of a product innovation on a recent road construction project almost unanimously (98%) found that the new product met or exceeded performance expectations.
