“We are always looking for ways to make the hospital experience better for our patients and visitors,” said Richard Tanzella, chief executive officer (CEO) at Piedmont Rockdale. “The Piedmont Now app provides guests with driving directions to the hospital, including the best entrance and to patient-care areas inside the hospital. Our patients and visitors can feel confident that they will arrive at their destination on time, unstressed and at the right location.”

Piedmont Healthcare’s mobile app extends patient engagement by placing the hospitals’ services and amenities at patients’ fingertips.

“With a more people relying on their smartphones for location-based information and directions, it’s important Piedmont Rockdale to have a mobile option that includes wayfinding to improve the overall patient experience,” Tanzella said. “The Piedmont Now app helps patients and visitors easily find their way around the facility, and features a number of different services, like a ‘save my spot’ option for our Piedmont Urgent Care location and access to the MyChart patient portal. We want to provide one app that gives patients all of the information they need.”

Since launching at Atlanta-area Piedmont Healthcare facilities, more than 50 percent of Piedmont Now users have leveraged the navigation features within the app and thousands of patients have used the app to book an online appointment with their provider. Piedmont Healthcare averages more than 13,000 online appointments per month.
