As Georgia communities continue to navigate the uncertainty related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Georgia Natural Gas Foundation is committed to ensuring seniors have access to food. The Foundation is donating $25,000 to Meals On Wheels Atlanta, a nonprofit organization working to deliver nourishing food to homebound and low-income seniors in Fulton County.

"At this critical time, we understand older adults are particularly susceptible to the threat of COVID-19. It is important that we all do our part to support our most vulnerable communities," said Mike Braswell, president and CEO of Georgia Natural Gas. "This contribution from the Georgia Natural Gas Foundation is intended to help deliver vital nutrition services to seniors and make a positive impact at the local level -- right here in Georgia where we work, live and operate.  During this difficult time, this is our way of joining with those who are on the front lines serving seniors.”

"This funding could not have come at a more needed time. We thank the Georgia Natural Gas Foundation for this generous donation that will be used to help increase our capacity to provide much-needed, healthy meals to seniors," said Meals On Wheels Atlanta CEO Charlene Crusoe-Ingram. "This timely support will help to provide over 6,200 meals to seniors who urgently need our help.”

The Georgia Natural Gas Foundation, a subsidiary of the Southern Company Gas Charitable Foundation, is making this immediate investment as part of the Southern Company Gas Charitable Foundation, Southern Company Gas and its subsidiaries’ $2.5 million commitment to support COVID-19 relief efforts in communities across its operations footprint.
