Tuesday, October 27th, 2020
Heritage Community Foundation announced today that Rod Chavez has been hired as Executive Director of the Foundation. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Foundation’s programs, administration, and strategic planning. His responsibilities include fundraising, marketing, community outreach, and grant-making.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Chavez worked for several non-profit organizations, consulting firms, and his own law firm. He currently serves as a director or advisor for various local schools and non-profit organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of North Florida and a Juris Doctorate in Law from Nova Southeastern University.
“Rod brings a wealth of strategic planning and operational management experience to the Foundation,” said Leonard Moreland, who provided the vision for Heritage Community Foundation. “We are excited to see him build on the organization’s success and guide its growth so that it can serve more non-profits in our area.”
Heritage Community Foundation began its work in 2015 as an initiative of Heritage Bank employees with a mission of supporting and reinforcing the good work being done by non-profit groups in the bank’s service area. The Foundation has provided nearly $550,000 in grants to more than 150 non-profit groups and agencies in Henry, Clayton, and Fayette Counties since that time. It raises funds through an annual golf tournament in the spring and a clay shoot in the fall. In addition to support from Heritage Bank and individuals in the community, many local businesses support the Heritage Community Foundation as IMPACT Partners.
