At-Promise-West Boys & Girls Club and Cricket Wireless to Surprise Two Local Families

Staff Report

Friday, November 13th, 2020

Cricket Wireless is teaming up with At-Promise-West Boys & Girls Club to give two local families a reason to smile this holiday season. The families, which were nominated by At-Promise-West Boys & Girls Club, will be surprised with $2,500 each in gifts to help them meet critical needs so they can “stress less, smile more” and focus on what matters most around the holidays – connecting with each other to create unmissable moments.

The Cook family is one of the selected recipients. Edwin and his son Jarricus are very involved at the youth center. They exude kindness and compassion to whomever they meet. Edwin is on disability and, unfortunately, has not been able to work amid the pandemic. This gift is a small token of appreciation for what the Cook family has poured into their community.

The second recipient is Julian, a high school senior. Over the course of a year, Julian has lost his best friend, and most recently, his father. Despite his losses, club members praise his resiliency and the joy he carries wherever he goes. He is goal oriented and strives to be the change he wants to see in his community. This much needed surprise will help Julian finish his senior year strong!

These families are two of many across the country who will be surprised over the course of 12 days, starting on November 13, World Kindness Day. This is a part of Cricket Wireless’ “12 Days of Cricket” giving initiative.
