Entrepreneurship-focused Organization Wins Two Global Awards

TiE Atlanta, a local organization focused on fostering entrepreneurs in all stages and industries, recently won the annual awards for Best Angels Program and Best Executive Director from its parent organization, TiE Global. These awards were announced against competition involving 61 TiE chapters across 14 countries!
The Best Angels Program award went TiE Atlanta Angels (TAA). TAA, founded in 2017, is a capital-raise platform designed to invest in new, high growth entrepreneurial startups with a primary focus in the Southeast United States. It involves like-minded accredited investors who partner with other investors in a portfolio approach. To date, TAA has invested almost $7 million in 21 companies, making it one of the fastest growing angel groups in the southeast.

JP James, President of TiE Atlanta, in discussing TAA said, “The future is about providing a diversification of investments. We want to be able to get high quality deals that are in growth mode as a group so we can provide a level of safety for a lot of investors.”

Additionally, TiE Atlanta’s Amyn Sadruddin was recognized as the Best Executive Director. Sadruddin has been with TiE Atlanta for nearly six years, serving the past two years as its Executive Director.  Prior to that, he was TiE’s Program Director. He is a graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. He previously was employed as an Account Manager with the American Marketing Association.

In speaking about Sadruddin’s leadership, Paul Lopez, Past President of TiE Atlanta said, “Amyn takes on the responsibility to be involved in every aspect of our chapter from membership to sponsorship to programming. In every aspect, he has continued to up our game and we are very fortunate that the critical success factor for TiE Atlanta’s growth in the past few years in revenue, membership, sponsorship dollars and in impact to our community has been in our Executive Director. Congratulations, Amyn!”
