Georgia Power employees and their families partnered with South River Watershed Alliance, Arabia Mountain National Heritage Alliance, and Stonecrest Parks and Recreation to conduct a riverbank cleanup last weekend.

The partnership garnered 36 service hours and 242 lbs. of debris were collected to help maintain the South River and to improve the health of local communities and protect our valuable freshwater resources. The South River is in the Upper Ocmulgee basin which feeds Georgia’s massive river, the Altamaha.

With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power - the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
