The McGee Group, a family-owned, American eyewear company specializing in the design and production of eyewear, sunglasses, readers, and cases is proud to announce that it has acquired new resources for manufacturing, enabling it to produce eyewear in the United States.

To accommodate this investment, The McGee Group is repurposing a building at its City
of Marietta campus for the manufacturing of its catalog of eyewear offerings. The company purchased a complete lineup of specially built, highly automated machinery from Dom Vetro in Los Angeles, Ca., closing on the deal on June 15, 2021.

The necessary equipment has been transported to the new facility in Cobb County where the factory is already operational. The McGee Group anticipates initially hiring 8-10 employees to work for the new manufacturing outfit, with additional investments coming in the future.

“Our desire to vertically integrate and produce frames in Marietta is driven by our long-term planning and goal-setting” said Matthew McGee, Executive Vice President at the McGee Group. “We are an American eyewear company based in the South, making products for predominantly the American market, and all of our brands are American brands. Our plan has always been to complete the circle by making product in the U.S.

“Building a company defined by resiliency in the long term is important to The McGee Group, so achieving this goal is significant to us and our mission, ensuring we can bring the very best products to our customers throughout the world for many years to come.”

Initially, the facility will focus on producing acetate (plastic) frames, both for existing McGee Brands as well as original designs. Plans are in place to expand operations to include metal and injection frames in the coming years.

The McGee Group is an industry leader in eyewear design with partnerships with established brands like Vera Bradley, Life is Good, Trina Turk, Ducks Unlimited and more.
