Portman Announces Restaurateur Steve Palmer for Reimagining of H.M. Patterson Home and Gardens
Tuesday, December 5th, 2023
Portman is proud to announce significant advancements at Spring Quarter, a premier mixed-use development project reshaping an entire city block in Midtown. In an exciting culinary development, Steve Palmer, the founder and visionary of The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, has signed on to bring his expertise to life at the heart of Spring Quarter within the historic H.M. Patterson Home and Gardens. These milestones signify a remarkable step forward in the evolution of Midtown's urban landscape.
The announcement follows news from earlier this month that Chef Fuyuhiko Ito’s Souzo will open at the project next year. In addition, Sora at Spring Quarter is now open and has welcomed its first residents. As seen in new renderings (linked here), the mixed-use campus will spring to life with street-level energy and chef-driven restaurants, including a new morning-to-night concept from Palmer. The alluring dining experience will enliven all 24,000-square-feet of The Patterson, which is being thoughtfully reimagined to preserve its historic charm.
“When we first saw The Patterson, I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to create something truly special in my hometown,” said Palmer. “Midtown has become such a well-established dining destination that we are proud to join and our team looks forward to sharing more about the forthcoming concept soon.”
Sora is Midtown’s newest, highly amenitized residential tower. Residents benefit from elevated amenities such as an infrared sauna, multiple fitness centers, a climbing wall, a golf simulator and outdoor lawn space. Party rooms, coworking spaces, a pet run and spa, media room, a resort-style pool and sky lounge overlooking the city are also among the unmatched offerings. Notably, Sora marks Portman’s first residential project in Atlanta.
Sozou, a new Japanese modern concept from Chef Fuyuhiko Ito, will open on the ground floor of 1020 Spring, Spring Quarter’s remarkable 525,000-square foot office tower. Sozou’s extraordinary dining experience will feature a menu that pushes the boundaries of contemporary Japanese cuisine and an incredible mixology program. In addition to the main dining space, the team will debut Omakase by Ito on the 8th floor rooftop of 1020 Spring. With breathtaking views of Midtown, Chef Ito will create seasonal specialties for private guests. In this uniquely personalized experience, Chef Ito has the opportunity to adjust his dishes to suit the personality of diners.
Portman will complete Spring Quarter in Q3 2024. Also in Atlanta, Portman recently delivered Junction Krog District, a 135,000-square-foot, Class-A office building with ground-floor retail fronting the Atlanta BeltLine. Portman has announced Yuji, a new Japanese concept by Kinjo Enterprise, LLC, and YEPPA&co as the first restaurants joining the project, set to open Summer 2024. Junction Krog District features a massive, 7,000-square-foot public porch that Portman will activate with live music and other experiences for the community.
