The BB&T Atlanta Open, an ATP World Tour 250 event with world-class men’s professional tennis players, has announced a multi-year title sponsorship renewal agreement with BB&T. The BB&T Atlanta Open, scheduled July 25-Aug. 2, is Atlanta’s only professional tennis tour event and is the first men’s tournament of the Emirates Airline US Open Series.

BB&T began its successful support of the tournament in 2012, coinciding with the event’s move to Atlanta. The tournament continues to be played at Atlantic Station in the shadow of the bank’s regional headquarters in Atlanta.

“The BB&T Atlanta Open doesn’t just crown champions. It creates commerce, connects our communities and ultimately champions children through the YMCA by raising money for them to be to more physically active,” said Dontá L. Wilson, president of the Atlanta-based Northern Georgia region. “We are honored and thrilled to continue our commitment to the BB&T Atlanta Open and we hope all Atlantans are equally as proud to host this world-class tournament.”

“We are thrilled to have BB&T’s renewed commitment to the tournament. BB&T is an essential partner in the event’s continued growth,” said Eddie Gonzalez, BB&T Atlanta Open Tournament Director and Chief Development Officer. “We are proud to be a major component in BB&T’s outreach to the Atlanta community, bringing a world-class field and world-class fun to our home city as well as helping us support the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, our official charity partner.”

Sunday, August 2 will be the BB&T Champions Day, marking both the tournament’s exciting men’s singles and doubles finals and a recognition ceremony for a champion in the Atlanta community. This is the second year that BB&T has recognized local champions on and off the court.

Metro Atlanta is the top city in the country for recreational tennis play, with more than 300,000 playing tennis in the area.
